Welcome to our church!

Just as the familiar Episcopal Church street signs read “The Episcopal Church Welcomes You,” so too do we welcome you at Christ Episcopal Church.

We are a parish of the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of North Carolina, gathered to worship God in the beauty of holiness and to live out the Gospel in our common life. Whether you are visiting for the first time, returning after many years, or seeking a church home, you will find a warm and prayerful community rooted in Scripture, the sacraments, and the tradition of the Church.

We celebrate the Holy Eucharist every Sunday at 9:30 AM in our historic English-style blue slate church. Our beautiful worship space is shaped by reverence, music, and generations of local craftsmanship. Here, people of all ages are welcomed, faith is nurtured, and newcomers are invited to join us as they are.

You are welcome here. We look forward to worshiping with you.

Plan Your Visit

What to expect when you worship with us at Christ Episcopal Church

When You Arrive:

Christ Episcopal Church is located at 428 Pee Dee Ave, Albemarle, NC. Parking is available along Pee Dee Avenue, or in the parking lot adjacent to the church between Pee Dee and Main. Our main entrance is clearly marked with handicap accessible spots directly outside. You will be greeted at the door by our friendly ushers and offered a bulletin to help guide you through the service. Our ushers are happy to help you find a seat or answer any questions you may have.

Our Worship:

Our worship follows the liturgical tradition of The Episcopal Church, drawing primarily from The Book of Common Prayer. Services include scripture readings, prayers, hymns, a sermon, and the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. If you are new to liturgical worship, you are invited to participate as you are comfortable — or simply to observe and listen. Many in our congregation are still learning as well.

Holy Communion:

We offer Holy Communion in both species (bread and wine). All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Holy Communion in the Episcopal Church. If you would prefer not to receive communion, you are more than welcome to come forward for a blessing by crossing your arms across your chest, or you may simply remain seated. Ushers will guide the congregation when it is time to come forward.

What to Wear:

You will find our congregation dressed in a wide range of attire, from casual clothing to “Sunday best.” We encourage you to come as you are and dress comfortably for worship.

Children and Families:

Children are always welcome at all of our services. We rejoice in the presence of children, and believe they are part of the living present of the church, not just its future. We welcome all children directly in service along with all the joyful noise they bring.

Accessibility:

We are committed to making our church a welcoming place for all people. Designated handicap-accessible parking spots are located along Pee Dee Avenue directly in front of the church. Wheelchair access is available via the sacristy on the right-hand side of the church. Please inform the ushers if you require the ramp, and they will gladly assist. If you have specific needs or questions, please contact the parish office prior to your visit, and we will accommodate you as best as we can.

After the Service:

Following service, we invite you to join us for coffee hour for light snacks and refreshments provided by our parishioners. Coffee hour is held in the Gehring parish house, located behind the church building. Our clergy and parishioners are always thrilled to meet newcomers.

We Look Forward to Welcoming You:

Whether you are exploring the Christian faith, returning to church, looking for your spiritual home, or simply visiting the area, we hope you will join us for worship at Christ Episcopal Church. If you have any questions before your visit, please feel free to contact the parish office.
